The biological meaning of an adult animal or human is one who has fully grown. The human world of adult is a reference to the social and legal aspects. Legal adult means a person attains the age of adulthood and is considered independent, self sufficient as well as responsible. An adult who is legally mature can be called a major. The age of 18 is the standard legally-adulted age at which you can become an adult, although this may be different depending on your country and legal status, in addition to mental maturity.

When it comes to the life span of human beings Adulthood refers to the time at which he or she has achieved full intellectual and physical maturation. Many people believe that the age of adulthood begins at age 20 or older. The middle age stage, which begins at about 40 years then follows by old age at about 60 years. Adulthood is divided into three stages: early adulthood (18-mid-30s) between mid-30s and the mid-60s then late adulthood from mid-60s up to death. As we enter early adulthood we have reached its physical maturity to the maximum. But, the size and weight may increase. The physical abilities of our bodies are at their peak at the age of young adulthood. This includes muscle strength in addition to reflex time, the sensitivities, and functioning of the heart.
